Supporting Healthy, Meaningful Lives

Health and Wellness activities at GCS support both physical and emotional well-being while encouraging confidence, connection, and personal growth. Through movement, mindfulness, and hands-on experiences, individuals build healthy routines, reduce stress, and strengthen social and life skills in meaningful ways. Regular offerings include programs such as Cooking with Confidence, where participants develop practical kitchen skills and healthy habits; DIY Crafting, which encourages creativity and focus; Social Connect, designed to foster friendships and communication; and interactive experiences like Drum Groove and Paws for Safety, which promote self-expression, emotional regulation, and personal safety awareness.

Activities take place across a variety of settings—including the Farm, the Hub, community spaces, and valued partner locations—creating opportunities for learning and growth beyond traditional environments. Horsemanship experiences through partnerships with Bella Terra Stables and Making Strides Foundation offer powerful, hands-on opportunities to build confidence, responsibility, and self-regulation while forming meaningful connections with animals. In addition to ongoing programming, GCS hosts special events throughout the year, including the Spring Gala, Annual Picnic, Fall Harvest Party, and Thanksgiving Luncheon—bringing individuals, families, and staff together to celebrate community, inclusion, and shared experiences.

All Health and Wellness activities are offered at no cost to the individuals and staff supported by Gene Cook Supports. In addition, GCS offers REACH, an inclusive opportunity that allows members of the broader community, particularly those who do not receive waiver services or supports through Gene Cook Supports, LLC, to participate in many of the programs, activities, and experiences we offer. REACH helps expand access, foster inclusion, and create shared community experiences. To learn more about REACH, click the link below.
