What We Offer
At Gene Cook Supports, LLC, we believe in helping people with disabilities live their best, most fulfilling lives- at home, at work, and in the community. Our mission is rooted in respect, inclusion, and empowerment, and our team is dedicated to providing person-centered supports that celebrate each individual’s strengths, goals, and independence.
We offer a full range of services designed to meet diverse needs, create meaningful opportunities for growth, and foster genuine connections through the following supports:
-
Gene Cook Supports offers Behavioral Support services designed to help individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism understand their behavior, develop new skills, and thrive in their communities.
Because behavior is a form of communication, every action has meaning. Our Behavior Support Professionals partner with individuals, families, and teams to create personalized strategies that encourage positive interactions, reduce challenges, and promote independence.
-
Communication happens in many ways- through gestures, technology, signs, pictures, and more. Our Communication Specialist works with individuals, families, and support teams to break down barriers and create personalized strategies that make everyday communication easier and more meaningful.
-
Community Participation Supports (CPS) at Gene Cook Supports offers individuals a fully community-based experience, moving beyond traditional day programs or vocational centers. Participants actively shape their daily schedules, engaging in leisure activities, volunteer work, social outings, skill-building, and pre-vocational experiences. With flexible scheduling (1-5 days per week) and personalized support (1:1 to 1:3 ratios), CPS empowers individuals to navigate their communities, develop independence, and work toward meaningful goals. Our trained staff facilitate outings, assist with planning, and support each person in achieving greater community involvement and life skills.

Companion services offer more than support— they offer connection. By working alongside individuals in their own homes, companions help create a sense of safety, belonging, and joy while encouraging participation in everyday activities and meaningful experiences within the community.
-
Health and Wellness activities at GCS support both physical and emotional well-being while encouraging confidence, connection, and personal growth. Through movement, mindfulness, and hands-on experiences, individuals build healthy routines, reduce stress, and strengthen social skills in meaningful ways. Activities take place across a variety of settings- including the Farm, the Hub, community spaces, and partner locations- offering enriching experiences such as horsemanship that promote responsibility, self-regulation, and a deeper connection to others and the world around them.
-
This service meets individuals where they are- at home and in the community- offering encouragement, guidance, and hands-on support to help them grow and thrive. Whether navigating daily routines, making decisions, connecting with others, or exploring community opportunities, support is personalized to promote independence, confidence, and meaningful engagement.
-

Designed to support both individuals and their families, these short-term services provide trusted supervision and care while caregivers take time to rest or manage other responsibilities, ensuring continuity of support, comfort, and safety for everyone involved.
Our Referral Process
Families are welcome to reach out to us at any time to ask questions or learn more about our services. In most cases, the next step is for the individual’s Supports Coordinator (SC) to contact GCS and share the Individual Support Plan (ISP), along with important details such as support needs, staff preferences, preferred days and shift times, and any other considerations that will help us understand how to best support the individual.
Our referral team carefully reviews all submitted information to determine whether we are able to provide services and staff the supports as requested. Once this review is complete, we communicate our determination directly with the Supports Coordinator.
If we are able to accept the referral, a member of our leadership team will connect with the family to begin the initial intake process. From there, we work collaboratively with the family and Supports Coordinator to finalize details and prepare for services to begin. If we are not able to accept the referral at that time, we document the individual’s information and will reach back out to the Supports Coordinator in the future should availability change.
At this time, we provide services for individuals enrolled in the Person and Family Directed (PFD) Waiver, Community Living Waiver (CLW), and Consolidated Waiver.
